Clean their ears?

Cleaning earsIn the same genre as my article on the replacement of cotton to remove makeup, I talk now swabs.
A 2002 survey showed that 49% of French ears are cleaned daily and 33% several times a week. Immagine the number of cotton swabs found in the trash. An ecological gesture would be replaced by something more durable. And why not by anything?

Yes I can see doing big eyes, it was provocative, and yet … wash your ears every day is a heresy as well as using cotton swabs to do, and this is not about ecology, but hygiene and health!

Earwax
The pinna is composed of cartilage and covered with a thin layer of skin. He is responsible for collecting sound waves and direct them through the external auditory canal (EAC) to the eardrum.
The skin of the EAC is pressed against the bone which prevents it from slipping over power but makes this conduit particularly prone to infections. It is covered with cilia that hold the dust and cérumineuse glands (a type of apocrine glands which I have already spoken). It is those that secrete earwax. It is a fat yellow to brown spreading on the wall of the EAC has a role in the transmission of sound. But he is also responsible for collecting the impurities that have penetrated the duct to protect against ear infections (otitis example) and water and drive away insects. So earwax is more useful, it is indipensable.
It normally drains naturally to the flag. In short ear cleans itself alone. It normally only in cases of disturbances in production (too thick, irregular) and / or flow as earwax may form and reduce hearing.

Clean the ears?

So you can understand that too clean ears is bad. But above all that difficult to clean it even worse. And that’s what most people know to push the wax in the bottom of the ear with a cotton swab and remove the fatty layer protecting the CAE (with cottons swabs or other sprays and pears) . And indeed, most of earwax are caused by excessive use of cotton buds. And earwax build retired doctor! Similarly, repeated ear infections may be due to regular cleaning of the ear canal.

Well I would not say that you should never clean their ears (phew! To say some)! Indeed, the Pavilllon ear is in contact with the outside air (ie dust and pollution) and often wax accumulates at the entrance of the ACE, which is the finest aesthetic effect. But a cotton swab that is really not ideal for those reasons.

So there are two things to clean:

The pinna
You can clean it with your finger covered with a cloth (cotton, sponge) daily if you want.

The entrance to the ear canal

It should clean what is visible and removing only the excess wax (there is no question of entering the ear canal, just remove what is to entry). Once a month for a normal secretion of earwax is more than enough (once a week for mucus). But with what?
ear-pick
With a small metal tool while mimi: the ear-pick. The tip of the ear-pick is made of a metal buckle, it can reap excess wax gently. They are found in some pharmacies of 1.5 € 2.5 €. You’ll find in VPC within 5 € at Mother Nature Center Hearing, or audition space.
Personally I have been a few months and I am delighted: it is ultimately much softer than cotton stalks. I must still admit that I struggled to get used to me not to strip the ears every day.
Finally, perhaps many of you have heard of ear candles that are supposed to suck the wax with the heat from the candle and the suction effect produced. In practice this aspiration is negligible, or the risks themselves are not fire, severe burns, obstruction of the duct by the wax. In short: avoid!
